Obituary for Amayah Trinity Frederick

Amayah was born on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Mott’s Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Her mother reports it was a fast birth—she came into this world with energy abounding as they fell in love immediately. This was an early indicator of the wondrous spirit Amayah would bring to her family and friends. All would fall in love with her!

She was the youngest of her siblings and enjoyed all the privileges that came with that and sometimes used it to her advantage. Her brothers and sister adored her even when she got on their nerves. Amayah attended Westerman Pre-School & Family Center and Haisley Elementary School where she shared her gifts of laughter, kindness and curiosity with many. She loved to attend the youth programs at Peace Neighborhood Center, where she was a Peace Kid. This meant she was surrounded by a larger extended family that also loved and cared about her.

She was multidimensional. Amayah enjoyed singing, dancing, playing tennis and soccer. She created great artwork. She was a selfie queen and loved to document her experiences with a good picture. She liked her beauty sleep snuggled up with her favorite Squishmallow and the family cat Silver.

Amayah was very sassy and sweet—she was a boss! Though she seemed quiet or shy at first, as you got to know her you were impacted by her sweet soul and ability to care deeply for others. She was a strong leader and was always willing to help those in need. She never lost her belief in the magic of the world.

She was baptized on August 21, 2022 at Ann Arbor Baptist Church.

Amayah is survived by her mother, Aisha Frederick; her father, Dwan Frederick; siblings, Dwan Jr, Ameerah, and Kwan; grandmother, Hawa Ali; grandmother, Denise Roby; and many extended relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held Friday, March 10, 2023 from 5-8pm at Nie Family Funeral Home, 3767 W. Liberty Rd., Ann Arbor, MI 48103. A private service will be held for the family.

Please join the family in celebrating Amayah by wearing her favorite color purple while attending the services.
