Obituary for Angelo Anthony Chinni

Angelo of Ann Arbor, Michigan, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2019 at the age of 88. Loving father of Francine Chinni Quail & Michael Quail, Denise Ann Chinni, Angelo Thomas Chinni, and Mary Lucy Chinni and Theresa Stowe. Proud and adored grandfather of Michael Anthony Quail, Angelo Joseph Quail, Anthony Matthew Quail, Anna Lauten Chinni and Nathan Lauten Chinni; and loving brother of Carmela Tocco. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary Rita Chinni of 38 years, prior to their separation; and his brother, Dante Chinni. He enjoyed a long, meaningful and fulfilling life but endured Alzheimer’s Disease in his last years. Angelo placed family first, and was a wonderful father and uncle. He served our country in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany following the allied victory in World War II. A dedicated and passionate educator, he earned his undergraduate degree from Wayne State University and his Master of Science in Philosophy from the University of Detroit, and enjoyed a long teaching career first as an elementary teacher with the Detroit Public Schools, and then as a Professor of Philosophy at Schoolcraft College where he retired after a 33 year tenure. Angelo loved music, arts, gardening, fishing, cooking and most of all, gathering with family and friends to share meals.

Visitation will take place Sunday, December 8, 2019 from 10am until the time of the service at 12pm at Nie Family Funeral Home; 3767 W. Liberty Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48103. A burial will take place Monday, December 9, 2019 at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
