Obituary for Anna Louise (Culver) Zantop

Anna Louise (Culver) Zantop passed peacefully on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 in Saline, Michigan. Anna was born on February 18, 1925 to Erwin Harrison Culver and Winnifred E. (Wolcott) Culver. Anna had four siblings: a sister, Marie, and three brothers, Westley, Lyle, and Elmer. Anna was married to Duane A. Zantop on April 3, 1949 in Parma, Michigan at the same church as where she met him while they were both standing up in a wedding together.

Duane and Anna had four children: Duane G. (Sharon) Zantop, Jim (Elaine) Zantop , David Zantop, and Karen (the late Ed) Freitag. Proud grandparents to 12 grandchildren: Duane, Renee, Nikki, Bart, Todd, Brent, Rebecca, Michelle, Elizabeth, Kaela, Addie, and Taylor, and 17 great-grandchildren.

Anna grew up in Hanover, Michigan. In her younger days, Anna worked at Aeroquip and at Sears. After marrying Duane, she tended to her family and the home in Allen Park, Michigan where they settled while he made a living as a pioneer in the aviation industry through various endeavors. Ultimately, the family founded and ran what was at one time the largest cargo airline in the United States based out of Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Duane and Anna moved to Ypsilanti in the 1970's and purchased a second home in Sarasota, Florida in the 1980's where they would spend the cold winter months. The family enjoyed many family vacations at the home in Sarasota, where they made happy memories together. When Duane passed away in 2006, Anna continued maintaining both of the homes and the family continued to spend happy times together with her for years to come. Anna remained in relatively good health for most of her life, and was cherished by all who knew and loved her. We love you so much and miss you dearly already. Thank you for always being there for each and every one of us. You will always live on in our hearts, and we will never forget the good times we had with you.

Laid to rest at a graveside ceremony with her family near on December 3, 2020 at Chapel Cemetery in Parma, Michigan. While we could not have a funeral service due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, you are and always will be in the thoughts and prayers of the many people who knew and loved you.
