Obituary for Anne Marie Sullivan (Leonard)

Anne (Leonard) Sullivan died at the remarkable age of 97 on December 18th 2021 . She was the mother of Annemarie Sullivan Palincsar, Eileen Sullivan Musto, and Joan Sullivan Lipset. She was the grandmother of Danielle Palincsar Dimcheff, Thomas Musto, and Orly, Sarah, and Brenna Lipset. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Thomas E. Sullivan.

Anne was born in Ireland and came to the United States as a young child. She met “Tommy” shortly before he left for WWII and married him soon after he returned. Tom named a tank “Irish” for her. She was a nurse’s aide during WWII and, following the war, enjoyed traveling the world as her husband stayed in the military as a career officer. She loved to dance, shop in Filene’s basement, and took great pride in volunteering at hospice and then at the VA hospital in West Roxbury. She is survived by her children and one brother, Nicholas Gerald Leonard of Boston.
