Obituary for Anthony "Tony" Dornoff

Anthony “Tony” Dornoff, age 57, of Dexter, Michigan, entered eternal life on Saturday, November 30, 2019.

Tony was born in Dearborn, Michigan to parents Donald and Dolores (Lohn) Dornoff and raised in Dearborn Heights, Michigan along with his three brothers Michael, Edward, and John. He attended St. Linus Catholic Grade School and St. Alphonsus High School, graduating in 1980. After graduation, he attended Eastern Michigan University, concentrating in nursing and special education. He was a Patient Services Advocate for 23 years at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti, Michigan. He then worked as Patient Services Representative and Lead Clerk at the University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center where he would serve countless patients over the next 12 years.

Tony loved sports, especially Detroit Tiger baseball and University of Michigan Wolverines football. Tony had a special gift for remembering sports and music trivia, which would often impress his friends and family. He will be remembered for his outgoing personality, infectious humor and unwavering faith.

Tony is preceded in death by his beloved mother, Dolores Dornoff, and is survived by his father, Donald Leo Dornoff; his brothers, Michael (Becky) Dornoff, Edward (Jeanne) Dornoff, and John (Heather) Dornoff; nieces and nephews, Jessica, Jenna, Ola, Anna, David with whom he was especially close; as well as Dawn, Linda, Brett, Patrick, Ben, Jin So, and many others across the state.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 5, 2019 at Nie Family Funeral Home, 3767 W. Liberty Road, Ann Arbor, from 2-8 pm, with a rosary at 7 pm. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, December 6, 2019, at St. Joseph Village Church, 7870 Fourth Street, Dexter, at 11 am. Viewing at the church will occur from 10-11 am.

Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in Tony’s name in an effort, as he would say, to “find a cure.”
