Obituary for Audrey Jean Connaughton

Audrey Jean Connaughton, 6/23/1934-1/15/2020 age 85 of Mesa, Arizona.

Audrey passed away on January 15 in Mesa, Arizona.

Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Anne Ternansky, and her older sister, Joanne Ternansky Kuzner. Born in Cleveland, Ohio to Edward and Anne Ternansky, the family moved to Michigan in 1937. Audrey graduated from St. Mary’s School in Redford, Michigan. She attended Scottsdale Community College in Arizona.
Audrey married William Connaughton and had four children: Edward, Diane, Donna and Mary. Audrey spent her life as a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother, and friend.

She was an active member and volunteer at St. John Bosco in Redford and St. Aidan’s in Livonia while she lived in Michigan.

Audrey enjoyed staying connected with her many friends during her lifetime. She enjoyed summers in Coure D’Alene, Idaho, boating, traveling, attending car shows, reading, music, writing and cooking. She loved children and animals.

She is survived by her partner, John “Jack” Ader, her children, Edward Connaughton, Diane Connaughton (Deanna Asbury), Mary Burns (Greg), and Donna Connaughton; and her grandchildren, Alyssa Burns and Karli Burns.

A memorial to celebrate Audrey’s life will be held on March 7, 2020 at Nie Funeral Home, 2400 Carpenter Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Friends and family may gather at 10 am and a service will begin at 11 am.

Audrey lived her life as a kind, compassionate, generous and loving soul.
