Beloved wife of the late Walter C. Root; stepmother of the late Charles W. Root; aunt of Claudia (Don) Szerlag, the late William Sockow, the late Virginia (Larry) Garbarino and the late Luanne Andruczk; dear great aunt of Deb (John) Richards, Mark (Diane) Szerlag, Kim Mendenhall, Paul (Cindy) Szerlag, Cathy (Frank) Ciavattone, and Steve (Kristyn) Szerlag. She is also survived by 8 great grandnieces and nephews, and 2 great-great grandnieces and nephews.
Barbara was predeceased by her loving parents, Douglas and Laura Etta Fraser; sister, Lauretta (Clifton) Sockow; and brother, Douglas Jr.
Barbara loved the splendor and romance of Ann Arbor and its thriving art community, and we honored this beautiful lady with a private Celebration of Life service.
