Obituary for Benjamin Leigh Dentel

Benjamin “Ben” Leigh Dentel, age 40, of Monroe, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 24, 2021.

Ben was born on January 15, 1981 in Ypsilanti, Michigan to parents Milton Lewis and Jeri Lynn (Blackburn) Dentel. He graduated from Ypsilanti High School and later attended Washtenaw Community College where he earned an associate’s degree in food service management. Following his graduation from WCC, Ben was committed to furthering his education and enrolled in courses at the University of Phoenix where he received a bachelor’s degree in business with an emphasis in human resources. His education led him to a position in the HR Department at Menards of Taylor, Michigan.

In his spare time, Ben enjoyed singing, and especially enjoyed karaoke nights. He enjoyed belting out whatever song felt right and had several opportunities to DJ karaoke nights at local venues. He was also a longtime fan of Insane Clown Posse (ICP) and enjoyed traveling to events and Gatherings with friends.

Ben is survived by his mother, Jeri L. Dentel of Ypsilanti, Michigan; his father, Milton L. Dentel of Ypsilanti, Michigan; his aunt, ZoAnne Blackburn of Ypsilanti, Michigan; his uncles, Tom Blackburn of Ypsilanti, Michigan and David (Pam) Blackburn of Jackson, Michigan; and cousins, Eric and Andrew Blackburn, both of Jackson, Michigan. He will also be missed by many other extended family members and friends.

Private cremation services have taken place.
