Obituary for Betty Marie "Moyer" Seasholtz

Betty M Seasholtz, 93, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, passed away peacefully at Glacier Hills Senior Living Community on January 18, 2023 with her daughters at her side. She was the loving wife of the late Earl C. Seasholtz to whom she was married for 43 years, and a devoted mother and grandmother.

Born in New Hanover Township, Pennsylvania in 1929, Betty was the daughter of the late Alice and Frank Moyer of Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania. She attended Pottstown High School where she was on the color guard in the high school band and a member of the Melody Maids Girls Chorus. She obtained her RN degree, graduating with honors from Reading Hospital School of Nursing in West Reading, Pennsylvania in 1950. She met her future husband, Earl Seasholtz, at New Hanover Lutheran Church in Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania, and they were married there on November 19, 1950. After the birth of their daughters, she became a stay-at-home mom and was active in church and community groups. Betty was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania for almost 50 years, teaching Sunday School and participating in many Women of Atonement activities. She was also very active in the Wyomissing Hills Women’s Club for many years. She moved to Glacier Hills in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 2009, where she made many new friends and enjoyed being closer to family. She joined Zion Lutheran Church in Ann Arbor and was active in a women’s small group bible study.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Seasholtz; her brother, Linford Moyer; and her sisters, Thelma Moyer and Bernetta Bleile. She was a loving and devoted mother and is survived by her two daughters, Joanne Seasholtz (Lawrence Springer) of Morgantown, WV, and Audrey Seasholtz (Robert Thompson) of Ann Arbor, MI. A proud and adoring grandmother, she leaves behind two grandchildren, Kathleen Nerenz and Michael Thompson-Brusstar. She is also survived by 7 nieces and nephews and their families.

Interment with a graveside service were held on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 11:00 am at New Hanover Lutheran Church Cemetery - 2941 Lutheran Rd., Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania. A memorial service celebrating Betty’s life will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023, at 12:00 pm at Zion Lutheran Church - 1501 W. Liberty Rd., Ann Arbor, Michigan. The family will receive visitors beginning at 11:00 am. For those unable to attend the memorial service at Zion Lutheran Church. A livestream of the services will be available at Zion Lutheran’s YouTube Channel (www.youtube.com/@zionlutheranannarbor4322/streams). The stream will be available about 5 minutes prior to the service.
