Obituary for Beverly Jean Jorfi (Braatz)

Beverly Jean Jorfi, 87, of Ann Arbor, went to be with her Savior on December 25, 2022, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s.

She was born on August 9, 1935 in Ann Arbor, MI. She was the daughter of the late Erwin and Frieda (Schaible) Braatz. She graduated from Ann Arbor High in 1953.

She is survived by her loving husband and caretaker Joseph J. Jorfi Jr. They were married in 1971 and lived together in Ann Arbor. Beverly is survived by two daughters: Brenda (Dale) Bucholz of Saline; and Rebecca (Michael) Siller of Saline. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Melissa Bucholz, Brittany Call-Boyce and Ashley (Ronald) Sutton. She was blessed with nine great-grandchildren. Beverly also leaves behind her sister Betty Braatz of Saline, whom she never seemed to forget in her last years. Her cousin Pat Wenzel of Dearborn and her longtime best friend since kindergarten, June Parker of Chelsea. Of whom both were like sisters to Bev.

Beverly loved her family and friends passionately. She was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind beautiful memories. She would spend hours in a Hallmark store finding just the right card for her family and friends. It was important to her to convey just the right message of her love and devotion that she had for each individual. She spent so much time in her favorite Hallmark store, that each Christmas she would receive multiple gifts from the store.

Beverly retired from the Ann Arbor public schools on 07/31/1997. She held multiple jobs over the 33 years of her career, always using her gift of administration, as well as her love for people. She was a life-time member at Zion Lutheran church in Ann Arbor. She taught Sunday school in her earlier years. She was also able to use her gift of administration working in the church office for several years.

Beverly loved to dance. Especially with her daughters in the living room. She also loved a good party, floating around the room talking and making sure others felt comfortable. She would give her opinion without flinching or apology, but she never dismissed you for your choice. We will always carry her memory in our hearts. “Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him” (Psalm 62:5).

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, January 2, 2023 at 12pm at the Nie Funeral home, 3767 W. Liberty Rd., Ann Arbor. The burial will take place at the Bethlehem cemetery, 2801 Jackson Ave., Ann Arbor.
