Obituary for Beverly Robbins Willoughby (Barclay)

Beverly Robbins Willoughby, born Beverly Jane Barclay, entered her heavenly home on September 7, 2022, to be reunited with loved ones. It marked her 75th anniversary of her marriage to Ronald Robbins, who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her second husband, Thomas Willoughby. Her ashes will be interred at Forest Hills Cemetery in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Mother of David (married to Nancy) of Ypsilanti, MI, and Pamela (married to Edward Rezewski) of Carleton, MI, Beverly knew six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Born the only child of Goldie Mae and Orville Barclay in Battle Creek, MI, Beverly grew up attending the First Congregational Church in Kalamazoo.

She liked to recall her days living at “the lake” where she learned to swim. Becoming a hobby that she enjoyed for many years and although not a competitive swimmer, she placed first place in several races at a local swim meet as she was the only entrant in her age group. She came to Ann Arbor to pursue a degree in dental hygiene after graduating high school, met Ron, and stayed. Beverly was a member of the First Congregational Church in Ann Arbor for over 60 years and a longstanding member of P.E.O. She enjoyed sewing, entertaining, traveling, reading, and “Meechigan” football. Her biggest joys came through family. While she will be missed, her family rejoices to know that one day we shall be reunited even as we press forward, following her example, in faith and love. A Memorial Service will be held at Nie Funeral Home, 2400 Carpenter Rd., Ann Arbor, Michigan 48108 on Sunday, October 9, 2022 at 3pm.
