Obituary for Carol M. (Boyne) Broecker

Carol Margaret Broecker, age 90, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2022.

Carol was born on December 25, 1931 in Detroit, Michigan, the third of five children to Frank and Jessie (Cranke) Boyne. She married Richard C. Broecker and shared 50 years together. They raised their five children in the Dearborn and Farmington area and later relocated to Clare to enjoy their retirement together. After Richard’s passing in 2006, Carol moved to South Lyon and years later, to Manchester to live with her daughter.

She was an incredibly hard working woman; when she wasn’t looking after her kids, she was often waitressing to support her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed creating beautiful quilts. Carol was even given the honor of the Harrison Township Quilter of the Year! However, it was time spent with her family that meant the most to her. She had a strong bond with her siblings and enjoyed having them over at the house to be together. More than anything she loved watching her family grow with the addition of ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard C. Broecker; her daughter, Patricia Broecker; and her parents, Frank and Jessie Boyne; and her brothers, Bryan Boyne and Francis Boyne.

Carol will be deeply missed by her children, Richard “Rick” Broecker, Robert (Cindy) Broecker, Margaret “Maggie” Alexander, Diane (Ray) Johnson; her son-in-law, Greg Jones; her grand-children, Chris, Bryan, Shawn, Nichole, Amanda, Ricky,Travis, Elizabeth, Joshua, Chelsea; her five great-grandchildren: Aubrey, Aurora, Peyton, Liam, Zechariah.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Parish, 830 S. Lafayette St., South Lyon, MI 48178, with Fr. Stan Tokarski officiating. Friends and family are welcome to gather at 10:30 am.
