Obituary for Cassandra Nicole Guyman

Cassandra “Cassie” Nicole Guyman, age 28, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly on October 11, 2019.

Cassie was born in Southfield, Michigan to parents Keith Guyman and Dawn (Phillips) Guyman and raised in Berkley, Michigan. From a young age, Cassie was passionate about animals and enjoyed spending time with her golden retriever, Sonny. As the years went by, she remained a dedicated advocate for all animals, especially dogs. Her passion for animals led her to work at Arbor Dog Day Care in Ann Arbor as a handler- the time spent here working with animals brought her the greatest amount of joy. At home, she had her adorable rescue dog, Cooper, who went everywhere with her, and two cats, Ned and Tom. Cassie loved to cook, mostly because it brought people together and it made them happy. She had the greatest sense of humor and enjoyed making people laugh, had no problem striking up a conversation with strangers, and could be tough while playing hockey with the boys. Cassie had a knack for not taking life too seriously- she was slightly clumsy, enjoyed dancing- especially to One Direction and Taylor Swift, and would always pick a Disney movie to watch.

She will be deeply missed by her parents, Dawn Guyman (Michael Burns) and Keith Guyman; her siblings, Kelly and Paige Guyman and Carson and Aaron Hunter; her aunt, Lisa Guyman; and her closest friend, Ryan St. Claire; and, of course, her beloved animals, Cooper and Ned.

A memorial gathering will take place on Sunday, October 20, 2019 from 1 pm to 2 pm at Nie Family Funeral Home, 2400 Carpenter Road, Ann Arbor. A memorial service will begin at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Cassie's honor to Detroit Dog Rescue or the Michigan Humane Society.
