Obituary for Catherine Dixon Baker

Catherine Dixon Baker, 80 of Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at St. Joseph Hospital.

Born in Brownsville, Tennessee she was the daughter of the late William and Minnie Dixon. She was a graduate of Ann Arbor High School class of 1957. Throughout the years Catherine opened her heart and home to a host of children and families who instantly became a part of her ever growing family and circle of friends. Catherine loved spending time with her family, friends, and anyone who was drawn in by her infectious personality and love of butterflies. She was a devoted mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

Catherine is survived by her children, Sherri (Darrin) Newlin, Tim (Veronica Beckman) Baker; sisters, Jean Winborn, Theresa (Scott) Campbell, and Paula Miller; grandchildren, Tiara Newlin, Lynnea (EJ) Wilson, DJ Newlin, and Donovan Baker; and her great-grandchildren, Eleyah Wilson and Tucker Newlin and special friend Kenny Person.

The Dixion family were alway leaders in the Ann Arbor community. They
advocated preserving the memories of the “Old Neighborhood” in Ann Arbor.
Their parents were great people who taught their children what love, respect, morals values and the importance of education really meant.
Catherine exemplified all of these characteristics. She install them and all of us!
