MAJ Douglas B. Siders, MD, age 84, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, February 24, 2023. Doug was born on June 7, 1938 in Hillsdale, Michigan to parents Bruce and Shirley (Luke) Siders and raised alongside his brother, Richard Siders.
Doug graduated from Flint Central High School on June 8, 1956 and graduated from Flint Junior College on June 13, 1956. He obtained his bachelor's degree from The University of Michigan on June 11, 1960 and went on to obtain a medical degree from The University of Michigan in 1964. Doug completed his residency in pathology, an area of focus that would remain throughout his career. He enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served as a Major earning the Army Commendation and National Defense Service Medals. Doug spent 29 years working as a pathologist at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital of Ann Arbor. He was passionate about researching cancer.
In his spare time, Doug enjoyed attending The University of Michigan football games, playing golf, and was a voracious reader of the classics. He was a patron of the arts. Doug introduced his family to different countries, customs, and languages. One of his greatest pleasures was dining out and enjoying fine libations of foreign lands.
In his retirement, Doug enjoyed taking long walks in the woods surrounding Burt Lake, Michigan and spending time with his grandchildren.
Douglas will be deeply missed by his wife of 59 years, Barbara A. Siders; his daughter, Annice T. Siders; and his daughter and son-in-law, Abigail C. Siders and Dr. Taha Hussain of Fox Point, WI; his grandchildren, Zahra and Zain.
Per Dr. Douglas B Siders request, no funeral will be held.
