Commander Lawrence "Larry" Otto, son Charles "Corky" Otto, infant granddaughter Colleen Otto, parents, two brothers, three sisters, numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Betty grew up in Chicago and Muskegon Heights, MI. She earned her nursing degree at Mercy College in Chicago. Thanks to her husband's military career, the family lived all over the country, from Texas to Alaska, Virginia to Hawaii. She and Larry settled their big family in Cheboygan, MI in 1968, where she worked as a Registered Nurse at the local hospital once her youngest started school. She was voted Coast Guard Wife of the Year in 1969, and was active in the Northland Players, Cheboygan's community theater group.

After retiring in the 1990s, Betty and Larry moved to Ann Arbor to be closer to family. She was proud of her green thumb and it showed in her garden. She would be glued to the set whenever ice skating was on TV. Her hands seemed constantly busy, whether they were working a jigsaw puzzle or crafting her latest crochet or embroidery project. Betty decorated her home with hand-made treasures.

Betty loved all kinds of music and sang in her church choirs and with Larry at several of their children's weddings. She devoted many volunteer hours to the American Red Cross and Cancer Society. In lieu of flowers, the family asks friends to remember St. Joseph Mercy Home Care & Hospice - Southeast Michigan.
