Obituary for Doris Bidlack

Doris Bidlack passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on May 20, 2022.

She was born on March 6, 1944 to parents, Victor and Virgie (Rose) Bidlack, in Pittsford, Michigan. Doris graduated from Pittsford high school in 1963. Remaining in the area after high school, Doris started attending beautician school and gave birth to her first son, Jerald, in 1964 and her second son, Jack, in 1966. Still feeling young and free, Doris joined a local motorcycle club called the “Road Runners,” which led to a bit of trouble and ultimately motivated her to take her boys and move to Ypsilanti Michigan, where she remained until her passing.

Doris was no stranger to a strong work ethic and facing life head on. From various job positions, whether it was bartending, working at the Greyhound Bus Station, waitressing at Bob Evans or working tirelessly at several manufacturing plants in the Ann Arbor Saline area, to always being involved and present in her children’s lives, by either attending sporting events, taking the role as Den Mother in cub scouts, and even helping in her son’s family grocery store, family was still always first. Once her grandchildren were born, she held exactly one title: Grandma. Her days of being Den Mother, quickly became being a supporter for her granddaughter’s girl scout troop. Doris was happy to provide childcare to her grandchildren as they grew up, being there to get them on the school bus in the morning, as well as making sure they got home safely in the afternoon, snacks provided of course. No matter what, she would always be looking forward to the next “Grandma visit.”

Among all else, Doris was always there. She was the biggest supporter of her family and had the biggest heart.

Doris suffered a stroke in February 2022, leading to her debility, but up until her passing, her independent, strong-willed self never diminished. She lived by the motto “do what ya gotta do,” and did exactly that, deciding it was her time for the next part of her journey.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Virgile, Eguene, and Frank; and sister, Phyllis Sigman.

She is survived by sons, Jerald and Jack Bidlack; grandchildren, Meaghan, Ryan, Jocelyn, and Tristan; and sister, Carol.

A Celebration of life will be held at Sidetrack Bar and Grill, 56 E Cross St., Ypsilanti, Michigan 48198 on Friday, June 17th, 2022 from 2pm-5pm.
