Our beautiful girl has gone — on to dance and run and sing and see Grandma Mary (A.D. Hubert), and say “Hi Grandma!” to Grandma Maureen (Charles Galea).
Ericka “Ricka” Hubert has filled and enriched our lives for over 38 years and she will be missed in our daily lives tremendously by her mother (Patricia Galea) and her sister (Andrea Hubert). Her FaceTime buddies (from Tampa) brother (Bryan Hubert), sister-in-law (Shannon), and her nieces and nephews (Killian, Clare, Jameson, and Fiona) will be missing her a lot.
Being so young, Ericka is survived by several generations older and younger. Uncle Timothy Galea (Nancy Hooper), aunts Ann Moore, Cathy White (Barry, Sara, Emily), and Carolyn Chico (Michael “gimme a kiss”, AJ, Ryan).
A medical miracle, Ericka was born with Tuberous Sclerosis Complex, and had multiple seizures everyday. She was one of the oldest in the world with such severe symptoms. Her unrelated cancer diagnosis was a surprise to everyone.
From age 2 until 25, Ericka attended High Point School in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She loved riding the bus and and her favorite activity was swimming. Since leaving school, Ricka has enjoyed outings including The Toledo Zoo & Aquarium, The Henry Ford, Bronners, and Calder’s Farm & Dairy among others. Along with Charlotte and Everly, she loved exploring new places and going on adventures. She also enjoyed shopping for goodies for the guys at Hawker and Son Collision in thanks for the regular wheelchair tune ups. Accompanied by her constant companion Cookie Monster she loved to swing, look at Christmas Lights, kisses from the dogs, and watching movies on her iPad while rocking in her recliner.
Ericka touched so many lives, and in doing so provided a deeper understanding of differently abled people to all she met.
