Obituary for Grace Mildred Caudill

Grace Mildred Caudill, age 84, a loving mother and caring soul, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by loved ones.

Grace was born in Milan, Michigan on March 25, 1938, she was the daughter of the late James and Helen (Conde) Collins. She was educated in the Milan Area School District. On October 15, 1955, she married Ernest Caudill, he preceded her in death, December of 2018. They made their home in Maybee, Michigan and were blessed with three daughters. Grace was the first woman bus driver for Dundee Community Schools and drove for them 11 years until accepting a position at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti, Michigan. She retired from there after 24 years of service.

Grace had a strong faith and deep love for God. She was a member of the Milan Free Methodist Church and served and supported children’s ministries for many years. She loved to read her Bible, praise the Lord through song, and prayed for family, friends, and others daily. She loved to spend time with family, laughing and always wearing a smile on her face. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, always thinking of others first. “To know her was to love her.”

Grace is survived by her daughters: Nancy (Rod) DeVee, Cindy (Dennis) Gaines, and Julie Caudill; four grandchildren: Michelle DeVee, Nicole Gaines, Jeremy (Stephanie) DeVee, and Aaron Eichberg; five great grandchildren: Damian Olechowski, Cooper, Paige and Tessa DeVee and Andrew Colton. She is also survived by a brother, Roger (Linda) Collins; a sister, Phyllis Doma; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and her loving husband of 63 years, she was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters: Floyd Collins, Charles Collins, John Collins, Lois Eberle and Myrtle Mata.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 11:00 am at LifePointe Church, 45170 Hull Rd., Belleville, MI 48111.
