Obituary

Obituary for Gwendelyn Ann Blackmer (Boice)

Gwendelyn “Gwen” Ann Blackmer, age 75, of Ypsilanti, Michigan, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2020.

Gwen was born on May 7, 1944 in Bowling Green, Ohio. Early in her childhood the family moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan where her mother, Ivanelle Allgire, married Irvin Fraker and the two joined their families together. After graduating from Pioneer High School, Gwen met Robert David Blackmer while at a drive-in diner. The two married in 1964 and raised their daughter, Shannon, in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Throughout her career, Gwen worked at Electro Arc and Conlin Travel in their accounting departments. Later, she and her husband owned and operated Miller’s Ice Cream and Depot Town Travel. The two loved to share smiles and stories with everyone they came in contact with. After retiring in 2010, Gwen dedicated her life to spending all of her time with her grandchildren who brought her the greatest amount of joy.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, R. David Blackmer; her parents, Irvin and Ivanelle Fraker; her siblings, Calvin (Mary) Fraker, Warren (Judy) Fraker; and brothers-in-law, Keith Dick and Joseph Webb.

Gwen is survived by her daughter, Shannon (Dan) Grosshans; her grandchildren, Layne and Allie Grosshans; and her siblings, Phyllis Dick, Bruce (Carol) Boice, and Marvin (Beatrice) Fraker; and sister-in-law, Beveraly Webb. As well as many nieces, nephews, extended friends and family.
