Obituary for Iakov Aganesov

In Memory of

Iakov (Jacob) Konstantinovich Aganesov, of Ann Arbor, passed away on Friday, May 27th, 2022 at the age of 72.

Iakov was born in Baku, Azerbaijan on January 20, 1950 to parents Konstantin and Maria Aganesov. He was raised with his sister, Karina. On September 16, 1972, Iakov married the love of his life, Marina, and they raised 2 children. He attended flight school and was a commercial pilot for many years. Iakov was a true aviation enthusiast. It seemed that the three things he loved the most in life were the people around him, the skies, and airplanes. Iakov also enjoyed the ocean, and upon moving to the US, Florida became one of his favorite destinations.

During his life, Iakov faced many hardships, including becoming a refugee in 1989. Even still, he remained passionate about helping others. He was a genuine soul that enhanced the lives of every person he encountered. Iakov was a man of humor, strength, and comfort. He served his community until his last days.

Iakov is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Marina; dearest sister, Karina (Michael); his devoted children, Yelena (Andre) and Konstantin, and their cherished children. He is preceded in death by his parents, Konstantin and Maria Aganesov.
