Obituary for Jack D. Fry

Jack D. Fry passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at the age of 89.

Jack was born on May 22, 1933 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Harold and Esther Fry. Jack was a 1952 graduate from Ann Arbor High School and an Army Veteran. Jack was an avid University of Michigan fan and had season tickets to both the football and hockey games for many years. Jack spent many years as a ticket taker for home football games at Gate 9. Jack was on several bowling teams throughout the years and a member of the Ann Arbor Elks Club. Jack always had a love for playing golf and was in several leagues throughout the years.

Jack was a member of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church for over 25 years. He was a beloved member of the St. Nicholas community because of his love, care and friendship he offered to everyone. Jack was a former member of the parish council for nearly 20 years, serving as President in 1994. Jack was an usher leader for many years and a great supporter of Philoptochos (helping the poor and those in need) and youth ministries. Jack assisted in taking care of the altars, under 2 priests, for nearly 25 years and frequently volunteered in the church office for mailings and other needs. His presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Esther Fry, his brother Robert Fry and his wife of over 30 years, Frances Fry. His life will forever be cherished by his children, Michele (Robert) Manning, Susan Jacobs, Steven (Linda) Fry and Jackie Fry; his grandchildren Nathan, Tara, Jennifer, Blake, Anna, Jessica, Courtney, Evan; 7 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2022 at Nie Funeral Home - 3767 W. Liberty Road, Ann Arbor from 2:00 pm until 7:00 pm with a Trisagion Service at 7:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church - 3109 Scio Church Rd, Ann Arbor on Monday, December 5, 2022 at 10:00 am. Burial will take place at Bethlehem Cemetery in Ann Arbor immediately following the service.
