Obituary for James "Jim" Hilray Cote
James “Jim” Hilray Cote, Jr., age 66 of Pinckney, Michigan, passed away at home on Sunday, November 13, 2022.
He was born June 20, 1956, in Bronx, New York, the son of James and Trudy (Lottermoser) Cote, Sr.
Jim served his country well in the United States Navy on the USS America. After completing his service, he became a talented carpenter with a passion for finish work. He was well known for his craftsmanship and work ethic. He was also a fine bluegrass guitarist and singer, excellent cook, and passionate fisherman.
Jim’s welcoming, encouraging, and generous nature cemented close relationships among friends and family.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Amanda (Jared) Garcia of San Antonio, TX; his son, Christopher of Ann Arbor, MI; two grandchildren, Taylor Rasmussen and Adrian Garcia; his sisters, Carol (Keith) Mueller of Deerfield, MI and Debbie (Paul) Kenrick of Commerce Township, MI; his brother, Tim (Andi) Cote of Severn, MD; stepmother, Virginia VanSickle of Onsted, MI; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Bonnie Cote Pansy, and his stepson, Ryan Ratz.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
