Obituary for James Robert Wolter

James “Jim” Robert Wolter passed away December 22, 2019 at his home in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Born April 4, 1960, he was raised in Ann Arbor with close ties with family and friends in Minnesota.

Jim will be missed by his family and his friends, with whom he shared a love of sports. He served for nearly 30 years as a goal judge for the University of Michigan hockey team, turning on the flashing light when a goal was scored, a post that required sharp eyes as well as a deep knowledge of hockey. Jim also was skilled in automotive restoration, at one time restoring a beautiful 1969 Pontiac Firebird. He loved and was a top performer at logical games and Jeopardy. He worked in transportation services.

He is survived by his sisters, Charlotte Wolter and Mary Wolter Glass; his brother, John S. Wolter; his uncle and aunt, Robert and Mary Wolter; his cousins, Marcia Blackburn and John F. Wolter; and his nieces, Emily Glass Guerrero and Stephanie Glass.

A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2020, from 4-6 pm at Banfield's Bar & Grill, 3140 Packard St, Ann Arbor.
