Obituary for Jane Kolarik Beaudry (Kolarik)

Jane (Kolarik) Beaudry, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, passed away at the age of 84 on Sunday, January 8, 2023.

She was born in Suttons Bay, Michigan on March 19, 1938 to Mary (Korson) and William Kolarik. She attended Leland Public School graduating in 1956 from St. Mary’s High School in Lake Leelanau. She graduated from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1960 with a BA in Psychology. She taught several Catholic and Public Schools in the Grand Rapids area. During that time she earned a Master’s Degree from the University of Michigan. She subsequently moved to Brighton, Michigan, where she taught second grade at Hawkins Elementary School for the duration of her teaching career. Jane really enjoyed her work with her school children. She also loved doing volunteer work during her summers, including work with mentally disadvantaged youth in Appalachia and Ontario.

Jane has been a resident of Ann Arbor since 1974. In 1978, she bought a house in Ann Arbor, relishing her flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed a long trip through Europe and one to Hawaii, and a summer spent in New Mexico. A highlight memory is a trip to the Seattle World’s Fair at age 22. She also enjoyed vacationing with her nieces, Mary Radecki and Ann Sartore, and Ann’s family.

In 1996, she met Richard Beaudry, whom she married on June 15, 1998 in Manchester, Michigan. She retired from teaching in 2001. The later years of her life were especially happy, delighting in life with her beloved husband Richard and her stepson, Andrew and his wife, Mary Ann, as well with her own family members. She and Richard spent wonderful times each year vacationing out East and quality retreat times with the monks in two Eastern Monasteries. She performed various volunteer services in Ann Arbor and through church; helping people in need trying to build the spiritual aspect of her being and in being kind to all. She was a loyal member of St. Thomas and St. Francis parishes. She was most generous to family, friends, and others in need. Her daily life reflected joy, helpfulness, and sunshine whenever she was.

She is survived by her brother, Jerome (Mary Ann) Kolarik; sister, Agnes (Dave) McWethy, her sister-in-law, Dorothy (Morris) Kolarik, her stepson Andrew (Mary Ann) Beaudry, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church - 530 Elizabeth Street, Ann Arbor on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 10am.

To carry on Jane’s legacy of generosity and giving, the family requests donation to a charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.
