John “Jack” Waterman, age 74, of Ypsilanti, Michigan, formerly of Chicago and Boston, passed away Friday, August 23, 2019 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital after an extended illness. Jack was born on May 30, 1945 to the late Harold and Myra (Cleaveland) Waterman in Mobile, Alabama. Survived by his children Sarah (John) Henseler, Kathy (Sean) Leavitt, Christian (Alicia) Waterman and Rebecca Waterman. Also survived by grandchildren Chloe, Nolan, Annie, Emily, Ryan, Inti, Ama, Samantha, Sierra and Summer and his sister Nancy (Frank) Price. Jack loved to see his grandchildren, especially when they were playing sports. He also loved his OLLI classes in Asheville, NC, and Ann Arbor, MI Jack was an avid birder and loved walking his dog Dougal at the dog park. Jack was a former firefighter and served as a fire lieutenant as well as an EMT, he also was a Permanent Deacon from 1987-2005. Jack attended masses at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Ann Arbor. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 12:00 PM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 2250 E. Stadium Blvd, Ann Arbor, MI 48104, where you may visit with the family from 11:30 AM until time of service. Fr. James Conlon will officiate the service. Those desiring may make a memorial contribution to the Humane Society of Huron Valley or the American Cancer Society.
