Obituary for Julie Ann Damron (Kren)

Julie Ann Damron, age 86, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2020.

Julie was born the only child of Frank Kren and Julia Ann (Davis) Hendrickson in Los Angeles, California on September 1, 1933. When Julie arrived into the world it was without the ability to hear. Her parents enrolled her into California School for the Deaf in Berkeley, California to ensure she received a proper education. After graduation, she relocated to Washington D.C. to attend Gallaudet University, where their focus was on providing students that are deaf or hard of hearing with higher education opportunities. Julie completed her education and earned a bachelor's degree. While attending Gallaudet University Julie met classmate Herbert Lee Damron, who was also deaf. The two began dating. On December 5, 1959 Herb and Julie married in Los Angeles and began raising their two children, Caroline and Mark. In 1976 the Damron family moved to Ecorse, Michigan to be closer to Herb’s family.

After Herb’s passing in 2000, Julie enjoyed living in Southgate where she was able to spend time with her son, Mark. In 2019, she moved into Brookdale Senior Living in Ann Arbor. Here she enjoyed participating in arts and crafts activities.

Julie was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Herbert Lee Damron and her parents, Frank Kren and Ann Hendrickson, and her stepfather Clayton Hendrickson.

She will be missed by her children, Caroline Damron Quinn and Mark Clayton Damron; son-in- law, Robert Quinn, and her grandchildren, Sean Robert Quinn and Kyle Francis Quinn, and Sean’s wife, Molly Manson Quinn.

Private cremation services have taken place.
