Kathy Schulze Mahoney passed away, suddenly, on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at her home in Ann Arbor Michigan at the age of 56. She leaves behind her husband Frank, daughter Caitlin, mother Kaye Lowe (Ken), father Ken Schulze (Jerilynn), uncle Ron Wojciechowski and his daughter Helen Sernett and his granddaughter Wade Sernett, uncle Brian Schulze (Paula) and their daughters Kristi Bigari (Ben) and Katie, and childhood friends, Errol and Susan Can. She is preceded in death by her aunt Nora Wojciechowski, grandparents Nick and Kathryn Jacobs and Ken and Carol Schulze. Kathy was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan; graduated from Hudson High School in Hudson, Ohio, and went on to earn a BA from Salem College in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. After working in retail, she earned an elementary teaching certificate at Mt. St. Joseph University, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and later a MA in Special Education from Madonna University, in Livonia, Michigan. Kathy was a devoted teacher in both Cincinnati and Ann Arbor School Districts. The last seven years, she has devoted herself as a full-time Teacher Consultant at Carpenter Elementary in Ann Arbor Public Schools.At nine years old, Kathy started taking English riding lessons; she became an accomplished rider and showed her horses throughout high school. Her daughter, Caitlin, discovered the joy of riding and Kathy became her loving groom and mentor. Kathy devoted herself to her husband Frank, her daughter Caitlin, her mother Kaye, and the many students she taught. Her love, gentleness, and strength will be seen through the lives of the many students and friends she has touched throughout the years.
