Obituary for Lanaire Erica Teklemariam (Latnie)
Lanaire E. Teklemariam passed away on May 1, 2020 at the age of 59 in her home. She is survived by her husband, Taye Teklemariam and her three children, Marcus Teklemariam, Matthew Teklemariam, and Michael Teklemariam. Also survived by her father, Melvin Latnie, Sr. (Dr. Veronica Latnie); siblings, Melvin Latnie, Jr. (Valerie), Dr. Rachel Rush (James), Rhonda Carpenter and David Latnie.
Lanaire Erica Latnie was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on August 6, 1960. She studied accounting at Washtenaw Community College and met her husband Taye Teklemariam at neighboring Eastern Michigan University. They would be married on June 27, 1986. On January 28, 1987, August 7, 1992, and September 29, 1999, Lanaire and Taye would welcome Marcus, Matthew, and Michael respectively.
Lanaire was a devoting and loving mother. Her passions would include reading, accounting, gardening, cooking, fitness, and weaving. A daughter of God, she would be attending Sunday service and conduct Bible studies in her spare time.
Lanaire was a dedicated woman who always strove for the best in her family as well as work life and everything else she put her mind to. She was ½ of the fire and flame that her and Taye built and maintained the Teklemariam family and she will be greatly missed.
Lanaire was preceded in death by her mother, Eula Latnie.
A private viewing for immediate family members will take place on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at 9:00 am.
Friends and family are welcome to arrive at Nie Family Funeral Home, 2400 Carpenter Road, Ann Arbor, Michigan 48108, between 9:30 am - 10:00 am to line up for procession. We will process with the family starting at 10:00 am to Highland Cemetery, of Ypsilanti, for a graveside service which will take place at 10:15 am.
For your safety, as well as the safety of the Teklemariam family, please be sure to wear a mask if you plan to attend the graveside service.
