Linda Jeane Cummins died on December 7, 2019 from complications due to post-polio syndrome. She was preceded in death by her father, Gene R. Cummins, and is survived by her mother, Bettie Elizabeth Cummins, her sister, Susan Marie Cummins, her sister, Jane Elizabeth Hughes (Dave), her brother, Scott Michael Cummins (Nancy), seven nieces and nephews, and twelve great nieces and nephews.
Linda was born in Pontiac, Michigan on July 23, 1952. At two months Linda contracted spinal bulbar polio. She was in an iron lung for two weeks. Linda dealt with limits to her mobility her entire life, but she was never defined by her disability. She graduated from Huron High School in 1970. She lived over thirty years in her own home in West Ann Arbor with her Rottweiler, Annie, her cats, Buster and Kelly, and her parrot Hannah.
Linda worked for over forty years as accountant and vice president of Hutzel Plumbing and Heating, 2311 S. Industrial Hwy, Ann Arbor. Hutzel Plumbing, a family business, was a big part of Linda’s life.
Linda loved animals, new technology and Red Wing’s Hockey. She was gifted at craftsmanship: sculpting, beading, knitting, jewelry, soap, and needlepoint creations. She was tender hearted and fiercely independent.
Linda attended Calvary Presbyterian Church as a child and was a member of The Word of God Community for over twenty years. She was a person of great faith who trusted in God and shared his love with her family, friends and countless others. She loved life and she was surrounded by love. She will be missed, but she is now free from her suffering and looking forward to a new body.
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” John 11:25
