Obituary for Louis Joseph Cortiana

With deepest sorrow, we announce that Louis Joseph Cortiana (Louie), age 87, our most beloved father, grandfather, brother, and family member passed away on Sunday, January 30, 2022 just shy of his 88th birthday, while in the hospital. Louis was born on February 1, 1934 to parents Guido and Marie (Cerundolo) Cortiana in Trenton, New Jersey. He spent most of his life in his favorite town Ann Arbor, Michigan. Louis was a dedicated and hard worker, as a carpenter in the construction industry and as a plant maintenance supervisor for a printing company. He was meticulous about the quality of his work, and strived for perfection on all that he accomplished.

Louis is survived by his loving daughters, Lisa (Thomas), Paula (La Tessa),and Annette (Clark); son in-laws, Dr. Timothy Thomas, Dr. Thomas Clark, and Guy La Tessa; as well as his beloved grandchildren, Nicholas Clark, Ava Cortiana (mother Enoud Ammori); sister, Diane Rigelmann (Cortiana); and sister in-law, Jean Bensinger (Borsenik); along with many that care deeply about him. He was also preceded in visiting heaven by his adoring wife of 59 years, Joyce (Borsenik) Cortiana; son, Thomas Cortiana; parents, Guido and Maria (Cerundolo) Cortiana; in-laws, Steven and Vera (Vincent) Borsenik; and brother-in-law, Robert Bensinger.

Louis was a veteran of the United States Army, active duty 15 Dec. 54 to 4 Dec. 56. Louis was an avid Michigan Football fan and enjoyed attending tailgates and games. He loved snowmobiling, music and dancing, fishing and hunting. You could always find Louis working in his yard keeping it immaculate, pruning bushes, and burning leaves. Many found memories of times shared in the backyard swimming, ice skating or just playing in the treehouse, built by Louis along with his most pride possession his family home. He loved his wife and children very much, they were his world. Louis will be missed by so many but left us with so many joyous memories.
