Love Bradley was my fourth grade teacher and so patient with us after I brought a couple mice in to be class pets. One of them would frequently get out overnight. In the morning she would let me know that finding Frederick was my first task of the day. When a small group of us moved ahead in the “new math” workbooks, I will never forget how we brought a problem to her to see if we got it right, and she said, “well, let’s see,” and pulled out the teacher’s edition to look it up. Being so transparent about the fact that she, an adult, was still learning new things, was so amazing for me. She was so humble like that, and yet such an amazing teacher at the same time. We loved her very much.

Dear Eric, Malik, and Myra, I knew Lovie Bradley when I was an Open School parent and employee. I will always carry Lovie in a special place in my heart. She showed such a tender ferociousness in the way she supported and advocated for the value of honoring children's hearts and minds. In honor of her life and her dedication to the lives of so many children, I will be making a contribution to the Student Advocacy Center of Michigan, in her name.

Lovie had such a huge impact in my life for my children who experienced her as a teacher and to myself, as a teacher!! She was my mentor and model. She lived up to her name, Lovie, as she embodied love for all and always focused on the best we had to offer. She will live on in my heart, as I know she will for many others.

A life well lived. My heartfelt condolences to her family. I shall forever cherish the years I knew Lovie at the Open School. She gave fully to each and every student there and supported the parents as we stumbled through our choices. Thank you for sharing her with us.
