Lunice (Parham) Perry, age 80, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at the home she spent 51 magical years making memories in.
Lunice was born on February 18, 1941 in Birmingham, Alabama to parents LeRoy and Gladys (Hall) Parham. She enjoyed a playful childhood in Alabama with her siblings, LeRoy and Irma Jean, until the age of seven when the family relocated to Michigan, and later, in 1964 the family welcomed brother, Greg into the family. After graduating from Ann Arbor High School, Lunice met George Perry, Jr. and the two married. They welcomed two sons, George and Melvin, into their family and raised them in Ann Arbor.
She took a position at University of Michigan Hospital as a secretary and, after 31 years, worked her way towards being a food services supervisor in the cafeteria. Lunice took great pride in her work and formed many lasting relationships with those she met working at U of M. If Lunice wasn’t at U of M working or at home with her boys she was likely assisting her husband at their gas station they owned and operated in Ann Arbor, Perry’s Gulf.
Lunice was a wonderful, caring mother and grandmother- always making sure to look after those that she loved. Her presence will be deeply missed but her endearing spirit will forever remain.
She was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Gladys Parham; her husband, George Perry; her brother, LeRoy Parham; and her nephew, Tracy Parham.
Lunice leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, George Perry and Melvin Perry; her five grandchildren, George Hunter, Starr Perry, Alycia Perry, Sarina Perry, and Shovonne Perry; her eleven great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Greg (Christine) Parham and Irma Jean Parham. She will also be missed by a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A committal service will be held on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Washtenong Memorial Park Cemetery of Ann Arbor, Michigan.
