Obituary for Marion Lucille Olmstead

Marion Lucille Olmstead passed away at the age of 85 on Monday, January 11, 2021. She was born on May 15, 1935, in Manistee, MI, to Jacob and Lucille Rouster. She grew up in Belleville, MI and had one sister and seven brothers. Marion graduated magna cum laude and vice president of her class in 1956 from the Mercy School of Nursing of Detroit at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI. She worked as a registered nurse in offices of OB/GYN doctors until she was in her 70’s.

In 1956, she met Norman Olmstead through mutual friends and fell in love. On September 7, 1957, they married and spent 60 wonderful years together. Marion and Norman raised two daughters, Chris Olmstead and Trude (Philip) Noble, in Ann Arbor. She was a proud grandmother of Nathan (Kaitlyn) Olmstead, Jacob Quiton, Alex Noble, and Dylan Noble, and great-grandmother of Lucien and River Olmstead. She also leaves behind her brother, John (Lorella) Rouster; as well as many loving nieces and nephews, friends, and her cat, Max. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman.

Marion was an avid walker and cat lover who always found time to listen to a concern or make a baby blanket for a pregnant friend or relative. She loved babies and working in the field of women’s health. She was a compassionate caregiver, loving mother, and gracious woman who will be missed by many.
