Below is a poem written by Melvin’s grandson, Zykeis Jones:

In Time

Cradle your dreams,
I have poured into
And in time, in you, more of me
I have loved and been
loved back
I have given and received so much in
return
Now-
Go.

Down no ordinary path that ends
Towards no ordinary door on hinge
And in time,
in us, more of you
Sleep, now that you are complete
your life is a love legacy.
