Michael Vincent Fons, age 63, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.
Michael was born on May 3, 1956 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to parents Jerome W. and Patricia (Egan) Fons. He was raised in Wisconsin along with his five younger siblings and two step-siblings. After completing high school, Michael moved to Indiana to attend the University of Notre Dame where he graduated in 1978. He completed an MBA at the University of Michigan. Michael met Ann Davis through The Word of God, a Christian community. They married on January 9, 1982. Together, they raised three children: David, Elizabeth, and Joshua. They have been members of Christ the King Catholic Church in Ann Arbor since its founding. He worked as a tax accountant for Consumers Energy in Jackson, Michigan for the past 25 years.
In his spare time, Michael enjoyed golf, watching the University of Notre Dame and the University of Michigan football teams, and assisting his church in various roles.
Michael's relationship with God and his Catholic faith permeated every part of his life. He had a quiet faith, but truly reflected the steadfast love of God to his family though his constant acts of service and the dedication of his time to their needs. His greatest joy came from being surrounded by his family. Michael was a devoted and loving husband, a supportive and present father, and a proud and affectionate grandfather.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Ann; his children, Rev. David Fons, Elizabeth (Adam) Donnellon, and Joshua Fons; his grandchildren, Samuel and Lucy Donnellon; his mother, Patricia Fons; his siblings, Mary Fons, Jerome (Kimberly) Fons III, Roberta Fons, and Daniel Fons; his stepmother Betsy Tittle; his stepbrother, Scott (Ann) Rowley and stepsister, Denise Franke (Mark) Sarvela.
Michael was preceded in death by his father, Jerome W. Fons Jr; and his brother, Christopher Fons.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2019, at Nie Family Funeral Home, 3767 W. Liberty Road, Ann Arbor, from 5-8 pm. A prayer vigil will take place at 7 pm. Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, December 27, 2019, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4000 Ave Maria Drive, Ann Arbor, at 11 am (instate at 10 am). Burial to follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Ypsilanti.
