Michael David Randles passed away in Ann Arbor, Michigan on June 27, 2022 at the age of 64.
Michael was born on April 6, 1958 in Dearborn, Michigan to parents, Leonard Niewiarowicz and Mayme Randles. Raised in Romulus, Michigan, he graduated from Romulus high school and continued his education at Washtenaw Community College, obtaining his Associate’s degree in digital electronics. For more than 35 years, Michael was employed within the St. Joseph Mercy Hospital system, starting on the receiving dock and quickly working his way up to Biomedical Technician, where he repaired and maintained state of the art medical equipment. Michael had the endearing personal quality in that he enjoyed helping people fix their mechanical and electrical problems. This extended not only from colleagues at work but also to friends, neighbors and family.
Michael enjoyed camping, canoeing, bicycling, lake trips, and traveling with his family. Some of the most memorable trips were to Yosemite National Park, The Grand Canyon, and Seattle. He was a great friend to animals, and spent recent years frequenting the dog park with Casey, Rosie, and Ivy, napping in his hammock with Bob the cat, whistling along with his parakeets, and tending to his aquarium.
Michael had a tremendous appreciation for music and enjoyed playing around with a variety of musical instruments, most notably his acoustic guitar. He also made sure to never miss two of his favorite NPR programs, Car Talk and the Prairie Home Companion.
As a “do it yourselfer” through and through, Michael was constantly in the middle of some kind of project. Whether it was electronics, woodworking, bicycles, or birdhouses, he was always building or fixing anything he could get his hands on. His resourcefulness and imagination were truly unique.
One of Michael’s most admirable qualities was his sense of humor. He could find a reason to laugh even in the darkest of times. His three children will forever cherish countless memories of his side splitting one-liners.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Nancy Atkinson.
He will be remembered and deeply missed by those who survive him: children, Aaron (Jayne), Sean (Christy), and Diana (Alex); grandchildren, Riley and Lyle; brothers, Ken Niewiarowicz and John Erving; and nephew, Michael Niewiarowicz.
