Obituary for Michael Gerald Sawall

Michael Gerald Sawall, age 59, from Clinton Michigan (hometown Ann Arbor), passed away Wednesday, March 4, 2020 in his home. Mike was born in Ann Arbor Michigan on December 3, 1960, to Lois (Crowder) Huller and Clare Sawall. In early childhood, his mother remarried Gerald Huller, who was a loving stepfather all of Michael’s life. He grew up in Ann Arbor, a 1979 graduate of Huron High School, where he proudly represented the River Rats football team. After living in Texas in his early twenties and marrying his first wife, Cindy Parker, he returned to Ann Arbor to work and raise his family. For a brief time in his later adult life he lived in Phoenix, Arizona. He was an excellent tradesman, working as a painter for over 25 years. Other interests and talents include music (drumming), creative writing, football, camping, scuba diving, and most other outdoor activities. He loved to be outside, but hated the cold! Most importantly, he loved his friends and family dearly. Over the years Michael had many pets that he loved, most recently his cats Alley and Puma.

Michael is survived by his mother, Lois Huller; daughter Chelsea (Adam) Ford along with his grandsons Michael, James and Casey Ford; sisters Joanie (Berry) Stovall and Trish Sawall (of Kansas); brother Kelly (Tiffanie) Sawall (of Texas); niece Sydney Stovall and nephew Dunn Stovall. In addition, he is survived by his former spouse Betty Ford, and her daughters Melissa Wild and Michelle Livingston, all of Saline, Michigan, who were his close family, friends, and supporters, especially in the last years of his life. Michael was preceded in death by his father, Clare Sawall, and stepfather Gerald Huller.
