Obituary for Miranda Casey Cottone

Miranda Casey Cottone, passed away unexpectedly, on October 7, 2021, at the age 22.

Miranda was a smart, quietly caring, fun, ambitious, and independent individual. She had been a part of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ann Arbor her whole life, and religion was always something that was very important to her. Most recently, Miranda worked at the Travelodge hotel in Romulus, but before that she worked as a Desk Assistant and then an RA at Wayne State University, where she attended school for over three years. She was very involved on campus and was even one of the organizers of the Campus Activities Team for a while. Miranda was a huge history buff and majored in history while attending Wayne State. She was on track to graduate with her Bachelor's Degree this winter with a plan to attend Eastern Michigan University for graduate school.

However, her true passion lay in writing. Miranda was a prolific reader and writer and loved sharing her stories online and with family, especially her sisters. She had a great love of travel and all things Polish. She was really into video games, amusement parks (where she was ride buddies with her little sister), and a wide variety of music ranging from rap to K-Pop to musicals. She was a huge animal lover, especially of dogs and cats, and especially of her cat, Ultron. She went through many different phases in her life, as everyone does, but most notably was her fervent revival of her love for the color pink, after she began embracing her femininity instead of rejecting it.

Miranda had a huge heart and enjoyed helping others whenever she could. She was (and is still) so, so loved and will be so incredibly missed.

Miranda is survived by her parents, Michael Joseph Cottone and Susan Casey; sisters, Jessica Cottone and Cassandra Cottone; paternal grandparents, Sam and Shelley Cottone, and Anna Czarnik; maternal grandparents, David and Kathleen Casey; aunt and uncles: Colleen (Rick) Cooper, Michael (Denise) Casey, Angela (Kevin) Stockmaster, Ericka (Charles “Andy”) Finn, and Matthew Cottone; and loving pet cat, Ultron; along with many cousins and friends.

The Cottone family will receive family and friends for visitation on Thursday, October 14, 2021 from 4-8pm at the Nie Family Funeral Home, 2400 Carpenter Rd., Ann Arbor MI 48108. A funeral service officiated by Pastor Donald Neuendorf will take place Friday, October 15, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 420 W. Liberty Rd., Ann Arbor MI 48103, starting at 10:45am

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to charities that were meaningful to Miranda, including:
