Nancy Lee (Dean) Hough passed away on May 16, 2022 at the age of 79.
She was born on December 31, 1942, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, the eldest of five, to parents, Richard M. and Edna “Helen” Mae (Hopper) Dean. Nancy attended Ann Arbor High, later to find employment in various positions including at the University of Michigan as a clerk at the Union. Growing into her young adolescence, Nancy took the role of being a gracious caretaker, from looking after her siblings, later to raising her own children, Brian, Carolyn, and Matthew. She was intuitive, mindful and resourceful. She had a big heart and she always wanted to help others, whether it was acts of kindness with the gift of food (specifically her cookies) or just physically being there as a positive influence. Although through many moments of her life she put others before herself, Nancy was able to become certified in child care at the Washtenaw Community College, and attended Cleary College to obtain her associates degree.
Nancy also worked at Joak American homes as an administrator/coordinator for residential services and assisted living homes helping numerous people with disabilities find the help and housing they desperately needed! She worked tirelessly for five years before her retirement.
Her likable personality and kind heart will truly be missed by so many who knew her.
Nancy is preceded in death by her brother, Richard Michael Dean.
She is survived by her children, Brian Grondin, Carolyn Ceccacci, and Matthew Hough, as well as her siblings, Willam Dean, Janet Mayberry and Jeffery Dean.
Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2022 from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Nie Family Funeral Home, 2400 Carpenter Road, Ann Arbor.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donation can be made in Nancy's name to the
Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
