Obituary for Pamela Sue Bailey (Hunter)

Pamela Sue Bailey, age 74, passed away on November 10th, 2021 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Pamela (Pam) was born on June 19th, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan to parents, Harold Vernon and Edith June (Bollinger) Hunter. She grew up in Detroit, raised alongside her older brother Harold Brent and her maternal grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Graduating Cooley High School in 1965, Pam went on to attend Highland Park Community College, earning her Associate’s Degree.

After Pam married her first husband, Richard Worthley, they lived in Minnesota for a short time before returning to Detroit, where their daughter Stephanie was born.

Pam was an active member of St. Timothy United Methodist Church in Detroit. She served as Church secretary for 13 years, as well as teaching Sunday School and helping with the Church’s outreach programs. She loved her St. Timothy family dearly.

Pam was also a proud co-owner of Hunter’s Family Restaurant, which she ran alongside her mother and brother. There, in 1999, Pam met Roy J. Bailey, and the couple was fortunate to marry on September 7th, 2005 at Howell Methodist Church.

Pam’s favorite season was Autumn, and her favorite holiday was Halloween. She loved visiting Cider Mills with her family, and taking road trips visiting little towns and cemeteries across Michigan with her husband Roy and niece Jennifer. In later years she adored seeing her grandchildren, Mia and Seren, in their Halloween costumes.

Two of Pam’s most beloved places to visit were Kensington Metro Park and Mackinaw City and Island. Pam also enjoyed visits to the Detroit Zoo with her grandchildren when they visited. Pam was very fond of animals and loved spending time with them - she worked at the Humane Society in Howell and adopted many pets over the years. In her spare time, Pam also enjoyed watching classic movies, specifically anything starring Humphrey Bogart.

Pam will be missed and remembered most by those who survive her: loving husband, Roy; daughter, Stephanie Allen and her husband, Michael; grandchildren, Mia and Seren Allen; brother, Harold Brent Hunter; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, including special nieces and nephew, Jennifer (Hunter) Domulot, Jamie Beth Hunter and Jeffrey Stephen Hunter; cousin, Robin Smith and her husband, Alan; mother-in-law, Pauline Bailey; brother-in-law, William (Catherine) Bailey; sister-in-law, Regina (Daniel) Nellis; sister-in-law, Valerie Watring and many extended family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Edith; her first husband, Richard Worthley; father-in-law, James Bailey Jr. and brother-in-law, Robert Watring.

Per Pam’s wishes, no services will be held and cremation will take place.
