Obituary

Obituary for Robert Carey Mayne

Robert (Bob) Carey Mayne peacefully passed away on August 4, 2020 at Green Acres of Wayland, Michigan at the age of 91 from complications due to Alzheimers.

Bob was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan on July 11, 1929 to Mark and Lillian Irene Mayne. He was a 1947 graduate of Ann Arbor High School and attended Michigan State University for two years where he participated in the ROTC program. Bob was then accepted into the Electrical Apprenticeship Program where he eventually became a Master Electrician and proud lifetime member of IBEW Local 252. He was also a lifetime member of Cole Creek Deer Camp, the ELKS, as well as a member of the Motion Pictures Operators Union.

Bob built two homes as well as a cabin up north that is still being used by his family. He loved to fish in Canada for many years, watch all sports on TV, especially anything Michigan, and, as a younger man, played golf, baseball, and bowled in the Ann Arbor area.

Bob is survived by his wife (and high school sweetheart) of 70 years, Lois Miller Mayne; his three children, Carolyn (Roger) Crawford, Tom (Karen) Mayne, and Susan (Thomas) VanderMeulen; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Sarah, David, Marina, and Anna; three great-grandchildren, Sophia, Joy, and Isaac; as well as many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Lillian Irene Mayne, and his brother, Mark (Buss) Mayne, Jr.

A committal service at Arborcrest Memorial Park Cemetery will take place on Saturday, August 22, 2020 at 1 pm. Please remember to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
