Obituary for Shane Shobey

Shane D. Shobey passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at the age of 27.

Shane was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan to Marcel Shobey and Mary O’Neill and was raised with his younger brother, Dillon. He attended Skyline High School and graduated with honors in the Class of 2014. During his childhood, Shane found a talent and passion for music. He loved all genres of music under the sun and also played piano and guitar. His true musical talent was shown through playing the viola, even traveling to Europe with his Blue Lake Fine Arts class to perform.

After high school, Shane began to take some college courses and despite his struggles in life, he cherished the community he found surrounding recovery. He was proud to work hard and have the support of people he considered to be his recovery family. Shane enlisted in the United States Army as a catalyst to start a new path and page in his journey. He found purpose and pride when given the opportunity to attend Army Airborne School. After weeks of training, tests, and his final parachute jump, he got his wings. He was proud to be a part of the Army Airborne Division.

Shane will always be remembered as a sweet, hardworking and loving son, father, brother, grandson and friend.

Shane is survived by his two children, Dakota and Ezra; devoted parents, Marcel (Jamie Leslie) Shobey and Mary (Larry) Abrams; dearest siblings, Dillon, Jalisa, and Nolan; loving grandmothers, Natalie Kellogg and Hazel O’Neill; dearest aunts and uncles, Alexis O’Neill, Tanya Dewey, Torin Dewey, and Alex Kellogg; as well as many more extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022 from 4:00 until 6:00 pm at Nie Funeral Home, 3767 W. Liberty Road, Ann Arbor. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022 beginning at 6:00 pm at Nie Funeral Home, 3767 W. Liberty Road, Ann Arbor.
