Obituary for Victor Julio Pinto

Victor Julio Pinto, 79, of Romulus, Michigan, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on November 20, 1940 to parents Vicente and Margarita (Garzon) Pinto and raised among his five siblings, Ana, Roberto, Pedro, Vicente, and Saul, in Colombia. Victor met Maria Elena Rodriguez at a local market and the two married on December 24, 1971. Together, with their three children, Victor, Sandra, and Jimmy, they moved from Colombia to the United States. The family settled in Ypsilanti, Michigan where Victor’s sister, Ana, was already living. Shortly after their arrival, Margarita, their fourth child, was born. Victor worked for the University of Michigan for over twenty years- retiring twice.

In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, going to Starbucks for his daily latte, and took special enjoyment in feeding the squirrels peanuts every day. His greatest joy came from being with his family, especially his grandchildren who he adored.

Victor is survived by his wife of 48 years, Maria; his children, Victor (Laura), Sandra, Jimmy (Mirla), and Margarita Johnson; and his grandchildren, Austen, Angel, Diego, Dylan, Jadiel, and Javier.

A memorial gathering will take place on Friday, February 21, 2020 at Nie Family Funeral Home, 2400 Carpenter Road, Ann Arbor from 10 am until the time of the memorial service at 11 am.
