Dear Heather,

Please accept our family’s deepest condolences and prayers. I remember Alec from when he was little and played T-ball with my son, Sam.

I was so happy to reconnect with you a few years ago when you headed the Teacher Appreciation Committee and recall how, after all you and Alec had gone through, you wanted to give back to his teachers in appreciation and gratitude for their kindness and caring while he was out of school and during the time of his return.

May you gather together with family and friends this week to celebrate the life of your amazing son and know that our school and greater community will be holding all of you in our thoughts and prayers. Kelly and Jim Cleland and family

I used to teach math at Pioneer and I was lucky enough to have Alec as a student. The whole first semester, I did not meet Alec since he was in treatment at the time for his illness. He did all of his work online and his mom turned the work into me. He was an excellent student and I was always amazed at how well he did without being in class. When Alec returned to school, I was even more amazed. I was amazed by his strong will, wonderful personality, and kindness that he shared with everyone around him. He was truly a shining light in my classroom. Although my time spent with Alec was only one semester, I will always remember him from his smile and kind heart. Please accept my condolences and prayers.

Sincerely,
Sarah Azarovitz

I didn't know Alec, but he went to Pioneer with my daughter. I just want to share my sympathies with his mother, his extended family and his friends. As a mother, my heart hurts for you all and I pray that you all find comfort in the kind words from the people that knew him best. It sounds like he was an amazing young man who shared a lot of light and love everywhere he went. What an wonderful way to be remembered by those around him.
